HATE CRIME IN POPLAR BLUFF MISSOURI
On June 10th 2009 two teenage boys got into a fight, one lost. Three days later on June 13th, 2009 the boy who lost walked up to the other boy on the street, doused him with gasoline and set him on fire. It is reported that he told him burn “nigger” burn. The victim, Walter Currie Jr., 15 yrs. Old, is black, his assailant is white.
Thirty days later, Walter Currie Jr., has been charged with 3rd degree assault because of a teenage fight, his assailant has been charged with juvenile assault for setting another human being on fire.
Winonia Currie, young Walter Currie Jr,s mother, needs your help fighting a city government that is trying to perpetrate a social injustice against a child, scared for life, in favor a boy who believes setting another human being on fire is alright.
The Dept. of Justice in Kansas City has jurisdiction in this matter but they were never notified of this HATE CRIME by the Poplar Bluff police, this case was only brought to their attention by a third party.
This family will be crushed under a system that has already made up it’s mind that a burned black child is a of no importance in Poplar Bluff .
Walter, is going to court August 5th, 2009 in poplar Bluff , without an attorney (his mom can’t afford one), he doesn’t stand much of a chance.
Please, do what you can to help this family.
