ReplyDeleteI don't think this is a hate crime. It sounds like the white boy was pissed he lost a fight and went to a whole different level to get back at the kid. Kids will say the stupidist stuff, alot of times they don't think before they speak. This does not qualify as a hate crime. What if it were a black boy that did the same thing the white kid did? And he called him the N word? Would that be a hate crime also? Think about it! Not everything between blacks and whites is racial. My prayers go out to the victim and his family. I can't imagine anything like that happening. Please take care of him and nourcher him back to health.

DeleteMight I remind you that when Christopher Newsom was carjacked, sodomized, shot and set on fire by members of a racist black gang it was not classified as a 'Hate crime' or racially motivated either.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have read about this case, it seems there is a distinct possibility that Walter and his brother were bullying this kid and authorities did nothing and thats why he retaliated.
The question remains - Where they bullying this kid because he was white? From personal experience and research I can say that goes on FAR more often than the reverse.
There are cases where black people who retaliate to just being called the n-word are getting away with MURDER. If I could murder everyone who called me a honkie, cracker, ballhead etc they would need an entire cemetery to bury the bodies.
The ONLY reason Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter was set free is because prosecutors (rightfully) claimed the murders where racial revenge. Judge Sarokin said that calling a crime racially motivated is worse than the crime itself.

ReplyDeleteThere was a similar crime in KC a week ago where 2 black boys set a 13 year old white boy on fire and said "this is what you get, white boy." An obvious hate crime. The mother also said the school he attended created a hostile racial environment. Yet police have decided not to investigate as a hate crime. This happens all the time when the victim is white.
ReplyDeleteAs I read this story, I see that there is a glaring omission. That several boys surrounded Raspberry and he did the deed in self defense. While I'm suspicious as to why he was so prepared, I also know what it is like being white in a predominantly black poor neighborhood and being harassed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Currie family, but also with the Coon family who now plan to leave KC because of racism against them.
Racism needs to end, but understand poor white people take the brunt of the racial harassment, not rich white folks.

He was the one in pain and hurt. But cause of his skin color, y'all labeled him as a monster. Nobody has even tried to give this man a chance.
